Collaborative lecture: Applied Financial Econometrics

Mercator Research Center Ruhr

Teaching Project

Applied Financial Econometrics is one of our upcoming projects in education that has been approved for funding by the Mercator Research Center Ruhr. As a collaborative effort between the professorships of  Prof. Martin T. Hibbeln from the University of Duisburg Essen and Prof. Peter N. Posch from The Technical University of Dortmund, this project will be a venture in the digitalization of education and teaching.

In essence, it is a new course designed to prepare students for a career both in and outside academia, as well as to make the learning environment more attractive. One of the ideas behind this course is to address the ever-increasing job market demand for graduates that are well-versed in the quantitative analysis of large datasets.

By providing a powerful server, which is accessible via a SSH tunnel, large datasets linked with latest topics within finance will be processed and analyzed using finance-statistical methods in both Stata and Python. Students from both universities will be able to participate in the course via video broadcast.

Keep an eye out for future updates on this page!
